Eco Art

Background:
Before becoming a field teacher and singing workshop leader, I trained in art and worked as a freelance photographer.  I have always incorporated art activities into the environmental education work that I do, particularly using natural materials and techniques inspired by artists such as Andy Goldsworthy and Sally Matthews.

I run ‘Eco Art’ workshops in a wide range of settings and with groups of all ages and abilities, ranging from pre-school age children to adults.  I hold a current DBS (CRB) disclosure and an up-to-date Outdoor First Aid certificate; I have also been fully trained in Child Safeguarding and Health and Safety. My other qualifications include CEVAS (Countryside Education Visits Accreditation Scheme) and Level 3 Forest School Programme Leader.

Eco Art  Activities:
I can offer sessions of varying lengths (from two hours up to a half or full day), as one-off activities or ongoing projects, based either at your group’s site or at a suitable local venue. Great fun for your youth group, or for your child’s birthday party!

Possible activities include:

  • Sensory ‘Exploring Nature’ walks, followed by art or craft activity
  • Simple willow sculptures (wreaths, dreamcatchers)
  • Wild Art (creating sculptures/pictures from found materials)
  • Sticks & Stories (exploration and crafts with a storytelling theme)
  • Lights & Lanterns (lanterns from willow or recycled materials)
  • Mask Making (creating masks inspired by nature)
  • Wild Magic (make a magic wand, a magic spell, a magic potion!)

I also offer Singing Workshops suitable for all ages and abilities, in both indoor and outdoor locations – a great way to unite a group, and singing brings all kinds of health benefits as well!  For more details see my Singing page.

My emphasis is on accessible creative activities that are sustainable and low-impact – and always making sure that everyone has an enjoyable time!

I am experienced in providing fun hands-on creative activities: sessions can also be tailored to suit a special theme or celebration. I am always happy to respond to a group’s particular needs: contact me using the email form on my Contact page to discuss how I can meet your requirements, and to enquire about session costs.
